Veterinarians

Dr. Stewart Ritchie, BSc. (Agr), MS, DVM, Diplomate ACPV
Dr. Stewart Ritchie grew up in a family feed mill in the Fraser Valley of British Columbia and was immersed in poultry premix and feed production from an early age. Stew received his B.Sc. in Agriculture from the University of British Columbia and earned his M.S. from the University of Arkansas and D.V.M. from the University of Saskatchewan. Stew is also a Diplomate in the American College of Poultry Veterinarians. Stew is a member of the Poultry Science Association since 1980. Stew served as President of the American Association of Avian Pathologists. Dr. Ritchie served as President of the Western Poultry Disease Conference (WPDC) and was instrumental in adding British Columbia as host to many future WPDC meetings. Dr. Ritchie established the Western Meeting of Poultry Clinicians in 1990 and the B. C. Poultry Symposium in 2012. Dr. Ritchie was appointed to Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Department of Population Health at the University of Georgia. Stew is President of Canadian Poultry Consultants Ltd. Since 1989 and S. J. Ritchie Research Farms Ltd. since 1992.

Dr. Gigi Lin, BSc. (Agr), DVM, Diplomate ACPV
Dr. Gigi Lin is passionate about helping and working with all levels of the poultry industry. She particularly enjoys disease investigation and creating continuing education opportunities for clients. Gigi received her Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture from the University of British Columbia and earned her Doctor of Veterinary degree from the University of Saskatchewan. Gigi is also board certified with the American College of Poultry Veterinarians (ACPV). Gigi joined Canadian Poultry Consultants Ltd in 2017 where she provides diagnostic, research, consultation, and field services to the poultry industry in Western Canada. In addition to the commercial industry, Gigi established the renowned Small Flock Veterinary Care in 2018 to provide small flock consultation services to small flock owners and non-poultry practitioners. In her spare time, Gigi donates her time to provide veterinary care for the shelter animals at the Langley Animal Protection Society. Gigi also enjoys public speaking, she has been an active member of International Toastmasters since 2012.
Technical Staff

Mike McIlwee (Poultry Veterinary Technician)
Mike McIlwee began his career in 1985, gaining experience in every aspect of Hatchery Operations and Broiler Production. In 1989, he had the opportunity to be part of the team that built a brand new, state of the art hatchery, installing and operating some of the first single stage incubators hatching broiler chicks in North America, along with being first to operate a fully automated chick processing line. In 2003, he joined Canadian Poultry Consultants, to provide technical service. Mike has been a part of the Platinum Brooding® program since its inception. Mike has provided hatchery consultation in several countries, gaining valuable experience with every trip.
Administration Staff

Tracey Ritchie (Office Manager/Customer Services)
Tracey had 17 years of experience as an office manager before joining our team in 2016. Tracey enjoys working with poultry farmers and is proud to serve the local agriculture community.

Karla Ovando (Inventory Manager/Customer Services)
Karla joined our team 2 years ago, she has over 13 years of customer service experience and has changed her career. She enjoys working at CPC and learning about the poultry field. At the end of the day, she goes home to her two girls.

Valerie McGoran (Administrative Assistant)
Canadian Poultry Consultants launched Valerie’s working career in 1992, where she stayed for over 5 years. Now returning full circle Valerie is very pleased to be back to where it all began. Valerie is working in the development of Webinars, taking Dr. Ritchie’s knowledge live during the global pandemic and assisting the office team whenever needed.

Liam Ritchie (Poultry Veterinary Technical Assistant)
Liam started his poultry career at a young age working on the family broiler farm and CPC as his first job. Liam then worked in many agricultural jobs and now currently manages a Wagyu beef herd. Liam has completed his livestock diploma and is completing his Bachelor of Business Administration in Agricultural Management at the University of the Fraser Valley.
