Dr. Victoria Bowes (Lead Veterinarian)
Dr. Bowes is one of the most experienced poultry experts in the valley. Dr. Victoria Bowes completed her DVM from Ontario Veterinary College in Guelph, Ontario followed by a MSc in Avian Pathology in 1988. Dr. Bowes is board certified with the American College of Poultry Veterinarians (ACPV) since 1992. Dr. Bowes has spent the last 34 years employed at the Provincial Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory in Abbotsford as an Avian Health Veterinarian and Specialist in Avian Pathology. Dr. Bowes has been directly involved in the detection, outbreak management and industry recovery efforts of 5 outbreaks of notifiable avian influenza in BC poultry. Dr. Bowes likes to travel in her Unity van in her spare time. She has two Chocolate labs and one golden lab that keep her company on all her journeys. We are so lucky to have such a poultry enthusiast and expert join our team here at CPC.
Mike McIlwee (Incubation and Poultry Production Specialist)
Mike McIlwee began his career in 1985, gaining experience in every aspect of Hatchery Operations and Broiler Production. In 1989, he had the opportunity to be part of the team that built a brand new, state of the art hatchery, installing and operating some of the first single stage incubators hatching broiler chicks in North America, along with being first to operate a fully automated chick processing line. In 2003, he joined Canadian Poultry Consultants, to provide technical service. Mike has been a part of the Platinum Brooding® program since its inception. Mike has provided hatchery consultation in several countries, gaining valuable experience with every trip.
Liam Ritchie (Poultry Veterinary Technical Assistant)
Liam started his poultry career at a young age working on the family broiler farm and CPC as his first job. Liam has experience in different levels of agriculture such as banking and working for the British Columbia Broiler Hatching Egg Commission. Liam has completed his Diploma in Agriculture Technology followed by a Bachelor of Business Administration.
Kay de Wet (Poultry Veterinary Technical Assistant)
Meet Kay, the newest member of Canadian Poultry Consultants’ team. Kay is from South Africa which is where she completed a BSc (Agric) in Animal Science degree followed by a MSc in Veterinary Science Paraclinical Sciences. After completing her studies, Kay got a job on a commercial layer farm and that’s where she found her passion for poultry. In April of 2023, Kay made the big move to Canada and has since then comfortably settled into her new life. Kay is very excited to join the team and hopes to walk a very long road with CPC.
Amy Mitchinson (Poultry Production Worker)
Amy joined our team in 2022 with a keen interest in food and poultry production. Amy has completed the Platinum Brooding course and has a great appreciation for animal husbandry and food safety. Amy is completing her degree in Communications at the University of the Fraser Valley.
Tracey Ritchie (Office Manager/Customer Services)
Tracey had 17 years of experience as an office manager before joining our team in 2016. Tracey enjoys working with poultry farmers and is proud to serve the local agriculture community.
Karla Ovando (Inventory Manager/Customer Services)
Karla joined our team 6 years ago, she has over 13 years of customer service experience and has changed her career. She enjoys working at CPC and learning about the poultry field.
Cher Wiebe (Financial Assistant/Customer Service)
Cher joined our team this past summer, she supports our controller with finances and is learning all facets of the business. She is excited to be a part of our team at CPC and learning about the poultry industry.
